"Warren Faidley is the walking, talking 'Swiss Army knife' of storm survival." CNN
As a hurricane chaser, I prefer to work right on the coast when a storm hits. It can be the most dangerous area but it provides the most graphic
images and footage. The secret is finding a location that will survive the hurricane's maximum expected winds and storm surge. For a Category 5
storm, with winds of 136 knots (157 m.p.h) or higher, and a storm surge possibly topping 20 feet, I must choose wisely. During Hurricane Katrina
(a category 3 storm), the storm surge in Biloxi, MS topped 26 feet. Two of the structures I pre-planned for riding out the storm were destroyed.

"Warren Faidley has likely outwitted more extreme weather than anyone on earth." ABC Radio Australia
Although Hurricane Katrina will always be remembered for the tragic flooding in New Orleans, areas along the Gulf Coast suffered extreme damage
from the storm surge that reached around 28 feet. Following Katrina, I conducted an extensive survey of coastal areas to learn how people survived
or perished. This first hand survival knowledge cannot be learned in books. I will apply the lessons learned to educate myself and others when the
next hurricane strikes.
